3 Ways to Motivate Your Employees So They Love Coming to Work

By HaBO Village Team

Do you wonder why your business is not as successful as it could be? Do your employees or the people you manage walk in the door of the office with a blank face, a loud sigh and look of hatred on their faces? If this sounds all too familiar then you most likely are lacking company culture in your business and need to learn how to motivate employees at your business. To really be a truly successful business you need to have employees that love to come to work—this all depends on the work environment YOU provide.

Are you ready to make this change and step up to the plate? Good, it’s about time you get on board. All the best businesses are already a part of the club.

While creating an overall company culture is a process and requires many things, in this blog post we are specifically going to talk about a few incentives that you can offer your employees to make them love coming to work, almost as much as being at home. Say what? Yep, it’s true—they won’t want to leave at the end of the day!

1. Create a Comfortable Work Environment

If you create an environment that is as comfortable as their own living room, who wouldn’t want to come to work? Ok, I know what you’re thinking. If they’re lounging around on couches all day, no work will get done! However, if implemented correctly, that isn’t the truth. All that you are doing is creating a comfortable work environment for them and showing that you as an employer genuinely care about their comfort.

2. Have an Office Pet

dogWhat’s better than getting a big ole slobbery lick from a cute little dog, or having a cat jump into your lap and show you love? Not a whole lot! In fact, according to a 2008 survey by the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association of 50 small and large companies, companies that allow pets in the workplace not only have employees who are more willing to work longer hours, but also a lower rate of employee absenteeism. 3. Have an Event to Look Forward to Each Week

When there is something for your employees to look forward to it helps them be excited about coming to work. They look forward to reaching the end of the week, not only because it’s Friday but also because there’s an event for them to be excited for. It’s like getting a big hug from your boss but without the HR slip! Some ideas can range from wine time, beer Friday’s, pizza Wednesday’s, game day’s, etc.

Benefits

  • Team bonding
  • Feels valued
  • Develops a sense of community
  • Creates comfort and openness among staff
  • Feeling of acceptance

We’re not the only ones who realize that these things are important. Check out this cool BuzzFeed article that highlights 20 companies who have amazing incentives to motivate their employees. Yep, you guessed it, couches, pets and alcohol made the list. What do ya know!
